March WordPress Meetup: Security-Focused

Details

For those of you who attended our awesome Genius Bar event last month, rest assured, we plan on having a few more throughout the year!

At the Genius Bar, several people were interested in security-related advice. For the March meetup, we're holding a security-focused series followed by a Q&A panel.

• Dylan Barlett (@dylanbarlett (https://twitter.com/dylanbarlett)) will be speaking on the importance of connection security, common pitfalls, and how developers and admins can protect their sites.

• Eli White (@EliW (https://twitter.com/eliw)) will be speaking on using WordPress' build-in functions to protect against cross-site scripting (XSS) and cross-site request forgery (CSRF) when developing your own plugins and themes. Functions include: esc_html, nonces, etc.

• Andrew Nacin (@nacin (https://twitter.com/nacin)) Will be speaking on core, plugin security, and how the team handles all of that.

For the second month in a row, food/drink/venue are sponsored by Rock Creek (http://rockcreeksm.com) and CHIEF (http://mybigchief.com) with special thanks to Scott Johnson (@sjohnson123 (https://twitter.com/sjohnson123)) for helping facilitate.
