DC: October WordPress Meetup, Happiness Bar!

We also have several important announcements in this posting, so if you're already familiar with what a Happiness Bar is, skip ahead to the end to read those announcements.

This October, we'll be doing a Happiness Bar for the first time in 2017!

For those who were not able to attend our last Happiness Bar event in December 2016, this is the basic gist of it:

A place where you can a) ask questions and get answers about all things WordPress; b) volunteer to answer questions about a specific topic in WP that you have experience in; c) all of the above.

Topics include, but are not limited to:

• Getting Started with WordPress

• Theme Help (HTML, CSS, PHP, JS, etc.)

• Modifying WP (Custom Post Types)

• Advanced Backend Help

• Server Administration / DevOps

• Content Strategy

At the event, we'll be able to match up those looking for help with someone able to help, and vice versa.

As always, food and drink will be sponsored by CHIEF.

Also, we rely on accurate RSVP counts to estimate how much food and drink to purchase for the event. If you realize you can't make it, please update your RSVP as soon as possible.

Announcements:

WordPress Arlington/NoVa meetups, organized by Tara Claeys, will now be posted on this page! This will provide a closer meetup to the many NoVa residents that are members of the WordPress DC group.

The goal is to schedule the Arlington/NoVa meetups about two weeks apart from the DC/DuPont Circle meetup, so there will be a DC-area meetup about every couple weeks or so.

To reduce confusion, any DC meetups will be prefixed with "DC:" (like this one) and any Arlington/NoVa meetups will be prefixed with "Arlington/NoVa:" ...I know that we've been doing meetups in only DC for a while.

Just keep this in mind, take note of the prefix, and make sure you're RSVP'ing to the meetup you intended to.

Meetups in DC at CHIEF's DuPont Circle location will still continue at regularly scheduled intervals: third Tuesday of the month.

WordCamp Baltimore is happening the weekend immediately before our October WordPress meetup: October 14-15. There are still tickets available (https://2017.baltimore.wordcamp.org/tickets/) at only $40 each, which includes two days of programming and lunch on both days. It's a really great value and only a short drive or train ride away!
