Gutenberg has been a highly-requested topic, so while this is the first Gutenberg-related meetup in DC, it likely won't be the last.

For our April meetup, we will have WordPress educator, Zac Gordon, doing a user-focused presentation about Gutenberg.

Talk description and speaker bio below.

Talk description:

WordPress has a new rich editing experience that will roll out to all WordPress sites in a matter of months. In this presentation we demo what the new editor offers, talk about how it may affect existing sites and answer any user questions about how it may affect them specifically. Come learn about the new editor for WordPress, code named "Gutenberg."

Speaker bio:

Zac Gordon is a professional educator, with a current focus on JavaScript development with and alongside WordPress. Zac has years of experience teaching at and developing curriculum for high schools, colleges, bootcamps and online learning sites like Treehouse, Udemy and Frontend Masters. In addition to teaching, Zac also runs Web Hosting for Students, one of the world’s largest hosting companies dedicated to students and teachers.

As always, food and drink will be sponsored by CHIEF (

We rely on accurate RSVP counts to estimate how much food and drink to purchase for the event. If you realize you can't make it, please update your RSVP as soon as possible.

If possible, try to arrive at the meetup before 7 PM. The doors to the building lock after 7 PM but we will have a volunteer in the lobby to escort people up to CHIEF's office.
