Seth Rubenstein: Synced Entity Blocks

Details
Join us via Zoom at 7PM, on September 20th for a presentation on Pew Research's "Synced Entity Blocks" by Seth Rubenstein.
Are you ready for Gutenberg Phase 3: Collaboration? A Synced Entity Block functions similarly to a Template Part or a Synced Pattern (previously known as Reusable Block) block. Fundamentally it’s a block whose contents are stored in a different post type, rather than the post being accessed and edited. This concept has broader applications, such as for a Chart block, Quiz, or our new Block Area Module concept. These blocks can reference a single post type, enabling you to edit a Chart in one place and display it in multiple locations. This also provides a higher level of editorial control compared to the current functionality of something like Synced Patterns. I'll demonstrate how to utilize newer hooks and APIs in Gutenberg, such as useEntityProp, useEntityRecords, and useEntityBlockEditor. These are all critical for making your blocks ready and compatible with @wordpress/sync and the broader real-time collaboration efforts of phase 3.
