WordPress is an open source platform for building websites. This event is the monthly 3rd Wednesday Meetup for the local WordPress Knoxville Meetup group.

Bring your own blog! We will be looking through everyone's blogs for off-the-cuff advice and reviews. This is a great networking opportunity, and a casual way to get live feedback. This follows our Yoast SEO plugin presentation in February - whether you use Yoast SEO, another plugin, or just old-fashioned content strategy without plugin assistance, show up to get community advice and feedback on your content.

We will also review common misnomers about how SEO works, common "gotchas" that many people miss, and general content strategy tips.

We'll be following up with a very special Happiness Bar (WordPress Q&A session led by volunteer experts and pros) dedicated to member questions about content strategy.

WordPress is an open source platform for building websites, and Knoxville’s WordPress group tries to gather every 3rd Wednesday for our monthly meeting to discuss WordPress topics. Presenters are still needed for upcoming months. If you are interested in leading a lightning talk or a main presentation, please contact the Knoxville WordPress group on Meetup.

More volunteers are needed to run the Happiness Bar, so if you are interested, stop by and talk to one of the volunteers or let us know you'll be helping in advance.

As usual, this night will consist of a Show and Share portion where WordPress users can show off their projects and what they’re working on - we'll skip this if no one has anything to share.

This event is free and open to the public.

If you want to present at or help with this or another WordPress Meetup in the future, let us know:

-Show n Share projects (show what you have been working on, or problems you are having.. 3 minutes max per person)

-a lightning plugin/theme review or other special topic: 10-15 minutes, looking for all users, devs, designers, eCommerce, etc

-Main presentations/workshops: ~30 minutes, looking for all users, devs, designers, eCommerce, etc

-Happiness Bar (we need more volunteers for our recurring Happiness Bars!)

Schedule for this event

7:00 PM - gather to the back classroom at Knox Makers for announcements and brief "show and share" if anyone wants to show off WordPress-related projects they've been working on.

7:15 PM - Main presentation - Community blog review!

~8:00 PM - Happiness Bar! Feel free to step up to the Happiness Bar (we have loaner laptops to use and free wi-fi) and see if a volunteer can help you out with advice or tips.

8:30 PM - Wrap-up and social time - some members move to Market Square for drinks.

Please note about our Happiness Bar: some specialized or extensive work might need to be done on your site including an audit of the code before sound advice can be offered and might be inappropriate to hash out by volunteers. Our Happiness Bar will try to be helpful if we know of any resources or freelancers that may be more appropriate to investigate on your own.
