Child Themes: A Crash Course

Details
/* New location this month */
What is a child theme, and when should you use one? When shouldn't you use one? Do they still have a place in the age of starter themes? Of course! Let's talk about a few use cases, pros and cons, then...it's demo time. We'll create a child theme for Twenty Twelve, set up a stylesheet, implement a few useful hooks and filters, and talk best practices along the way.
OPENING PRESENTATION: Using Amara to caption WPNYC videos
Over the years, this meetup has recorded 99.9% of our presentations. You can find them on our community site (http://wpnyc.org/video/) or YouTube channel. (http://www.youtube.com/user/wordpressnyc) Though YouTube tries to auto caption some of them, they don't always do a good job. Winstina Hughes will talk about her experience using Amara (http://www.amara.org/en/profiles/videos/wpnyc/) to caption some of our videos, making them accessible to people who are deaf.
GET ONE-ON-ONE ASSISTANCE AT OUR HELP DESK:
