WordCamp Primer: Keys to Website Building (Accessibility, WooCommerce)
Details
We've moved! The Los Angeles County Public Library Stephenson Ranch Branch has been gracious enough to host our meetup.
Geared towards beginning-to-intermediate-to-advanced level WordPress enthusiasts, this meetup will address more detailed topics and techniques as we progress.
TWO WORDCAMP-STYLE PRESENTATIONS
What designers need to know about Web Accessibility
Sumner M Davenport
This hands-on workshop is designed for WordPress users of all skill levels. Sumner will provide steps evaluating and remediating a WordPress site. These same procedures can be included during the design process of a new WordPress site. She will cover helpful resources that are readily available, including plugins – the good, the bad and the ugly. Bring your laptop and a site you want to work on.
Venturing into WooCommerce
Sean Conklin
Ventured into eCommerce yet? These days it seems inevitable that your website (or your client's websites) will need to bring business operations online and mobile-ready. As a WordPress user or developer, the obvious choice would be WooCommerce — the leading open-source eCommerce platform that installs right into WordPress. With this technology, you can add a product catalog, a shopping cart, and a customer self-service portal. Unlike popular alternatives, WooCommerce is free and doesn’t charge a portion of profits. Want to learn about it? See it in action? Brush-up on best practices? Bring your questions and come to this WooCommerce demonstration and discussion session!
WHAT TO BRING
We'll meet in the Community Meeting Room and talk about WordPress. The library has open public wifi connections. You're welcome to bring your laptop as well.
IMPORTANT TO KNOW
If you have a topic you'd like to discuss, present at a future Meetup or need help on a question, post it here on the board.
