GET READY FOR A FUN, HANDS-ON CREATIVE CHALLENGE!

Join the World Chess Hall of Fame & Galleries, Saint Louis‘s premier cultural destination, for a unique and approachable hands-on workshop. This interactive, adult program is a highlight of the local calendar and a fun way to experience chess education through creative play.

The Program: Poetic Device: Make a Printed Flexigon with Central Print
A Printmaking, Poetry, and Math-Fused Workshop

Join Central Print for a printmaking, poetry, and math-fused workshop inspired by Square Poem: The Bishop by Nkosi Nkululeko, currently on view at the World Chess Hall of Fame & Galleries. We will be making a flexigon—a folded book that opens up to reveal a new arrangement of words and images, allowing the artist to play with multiple meanings. Participants will create the book’s content by printing with an assortment of imagery and type from Central Print’s Collection.

All supplies for this self-led activity are included, and no chess experience is needed to join in!

The program has a $5 entry fee, but is FREE for World Chess Hall of Fame & Galleries Members! Learn more about becoming a member.

The Exhibition: Reading Between the Lines: Chess and Literature
The Intersection of Strategy and Culture

This fun program is offered in connection with our current art exhibition, Reading Between the Lines: Chess and Literature. This exhibition explores how authors and artists have used chess as a metaphor for strategy, life, and conflict in their works. This event promotes chess education by demonstrating the link between strategic thinking, creative expression, and design.
