This is a social event for people to discover new music, talk about music, meet people and maybe see some free live music.

We will meet at The Star in Shoreditch (Old Street).

We will kick-off with some conversation starters, activities and music-themed games between 6:30 and 8pm.

THIS WEEK'S PLAYLIST
The theme of this week's playlist is "Songs about Music".
It is a collection of 21 songs about singing, dancing, writing, guitars, drums and all things musical..including the power of music.
Please listen to at least some of the playlist before the event. We will be talking about our favourite tracks and other recommendations when we meet.

The playlist for this event can be found on Spotify via this link...

(there is also a picture of the playlist in the event description)

This event is a bit like a book club, but for music.

  • Each event has a music playlist for you to listen to.
  • You don’t need to listen to all of it, and you shouldn't expect to like everything you hear - but try it, you might like it!
  • The playlist will be the starting point for some conversations, and there will be a vote to decide on the best picks from the playlist.
  • There will be some music-themed games and activities, including a mini music quiz and a team game.
  • This will be a small event for up to 14 people.
  • During each event we will choose a theme for the next playlist. You can also join the WhatsApp group and give your recommendations for songs on the next playlist.

.

We don’t just talk about music. It’s a social meetup with some music-themed games and activities, but it’s also a place to see where the conversation goes. It doesn’t matter what music you are into. It is an off-line and analogue way of discovering new stuff, by talking to real people. Together, we are better than an algorithm :)

Everyone is welcome. All opinions and tastes are appreciated. If you want to recommend any music to the group, think about how you might describe it, or the artists you would you compare it to?

This is also an opportunity for local artists to get their music heard. If you are a musician or if you know any, please contact me or come along. I can then add your music to the playlist.

After the event, some of us will go to a nearby bar for some free live music! This is only a short walk, so stick around if you'd like to join us. This week we will be going to The Old Blue Last, or Dream Bags and Jaguar Shoes, or maybe even Shacklewell Arms.

Practical stuff...

Train stations in walking distance are Old Street, Hoxton, Shoreditch High Street, and a bit further to Liverpool Street. There are plenty of bus routes to this area (numbers 243, 155, 242, 149…etc.)

Please note, we won’t be listening to music during the event. It’s a social for people who enjoy talking about music, meeting people, and playing some music-themed games to get the conversation flowing.

When you arrive, you can find the group by looking for the table with the red hat on it. We will be out the front if the weather is nice.
If you have any questions, please leave a comment.
