πŸ—£ Round table discussion: editor block scaffolds for beginners

The new block editor (aka Gutenberg) has been around for a while now – we're all getting used to it in varying degrees and block plugin scaffolds for developers are popping up left, right and center.

But which one is best? As always, it depends on many many many things so we're narrowing down the discussion a bit and asking which one might work best for developers new to blocks. It would be great if whoever is interested to give one or more a go and report back!

The ones we've tested thus far (and that work out of the box) include:

– the one from WordPress: https://developer.wordpress.org/block-editor/packages/packages-create-block/

– the one that's been around for a while, this might be the first choice for people completely new to block development and coming from the php WP side: https://github.com/ahmadawais/create-guten-block

– a more involved one which might be good for people who are already familiar with React but not so much with the "making a plugin" php side of things: https://www.npmjs.com/package/wp-block-builder (but also server side rendering is possible in this scaffold and there's a working example)

All of these scaffolds assume a working local WordPress environment and an ability to run command line scripts like `npm run start` even if you don't quite understand what it's doing – copy and paste is fine!

Come discuss what you think of these or any others you like in the WPUK Slack here: http://wpslack.uk/ Then on Tuesday, anyone is welcome and encouraged to give a report back about how they've gotten on or listen in to the conversation.
