WP-Havering March meetup

Details
Welcome to the WP Havering meetup, a monthly WordPress meetup held at The Retailery on Romford Market on the 3rd Tuesday of the Month.
This month we are delighted to welcome Corinne Welsh as our guest speaker, talking on the topic of:
Introduction to Child Themes
This will be a how-to “Get started with themes in WordPress”. It will cover, briefly, the history of making things look pretty on the web and good practice in WordPress themes. We will look at the structure of WordPress and the structure of a theme. It will answer the question “What is a child theme?” and address why you would (or would not) make one. We will, then, walk through the steps of building a child theme.
The talk is relevant to WordPress beginners. It will be interesting for anyone who wants to learn about how themes work and is new to child themes. For knowledgeable theme-builders there will be the opportunity to look at cute pictures of cats and share your experience.
Corinne Welsh is passionate about free and open source software, and lifelong learning. She runs a training and development company JustOutsource.it to indulge both these passions. Corinne built her first website in the 1990s and has been using WordPress to build websites since 2009. She is available to hire for a range of projects.
WordPress meetups are open to all, regardless of experience or level. If you use WordPress or want to use WordPress, this is the event for you. This meetup is the chance for like minded WordPress users to get together is a comfortable, open environment and discuss all things WordPress.
