Are you a WordPress user, designer or developer? Use WordPress to manage your personal or business blog? Join us at our informal WordPress meet up at the fantastic Campus North building in Newcastle upon Tyne.
Newcomers always welcome, no matter your level of experience with WordPress.
18:00: introduction, beers and soft drinks thanks to Campus North <3
18:20: "Improving WordPress markup" by Richard Carter (http://www.earlgreyandbattenburg.co.uk)
A walkthrough some of the improvements to WordPress markup we make at Peacock Carter (http://www.peacockcarter.co.uk/).
18:40: "WordPress directory website case study"
Content creator first and web geek second, Graham Soult has been running web directory business CannySites.com for the last ten years. Launched a year ago, CannySites.com’s latest site – the Fashion & Style Directory (http://www.fashionandstyledirectory.co.uk/) – is its first to be built using WordPress, rather than a custom (and somewhat creaky) decade-old system of CGIs and CSVs.
Graham will share the story of how he took his existing, successful Directory concept and reinvented and refreshed it using WordPress. As well as highlighting the benefits, challenges and opportunities he’s found from using WordPress, Graham will also talk about how he chose his theme, what he had to do to make it do what he wanted, and what his favourites plugins are!
19:00: Q&A. Get your WordPress queries answered by the community!
19:30 - whenever: We're a sociable lot, so why not join us for a beer after the event too! We'll probably be heading to the Warerooms around the corner.
Thanks, as ever, to our sponsors, Campus North (http://campusnorth.co.uk) for the venue (check out their sponsors here (http://campusnorth.co.uk/)) and to Sharpe Recruitment (http://www.sharperecruitment.co.uk/) for sponsoring the delicious pizza.
