Jackson Pollock and Whiskey Paint Night in Lake Worth

Details

Join us for an evening of whiskey + painting + a whole lot of fun. Don't worry, all levels are welcome.

****Please note that in order to confirm your spot you must purchase your ticket through Lori's website. An rsvp or confirmation on Meetup is not sufficient.

Celebrate your favorite artists and their favorite drinks on Thursday, July 11 at our first Paint and Sip workshop. This workshop, taught by Lori Auger, will be centered around the work of artist, Jackson Pollock.

This is not your ordinary paint and sip… This is a paint and sip experience!

This is a fun, free hand, painting event where participants are encouraged to use their own style and flair to recreate some of these famous paintings in history. Of course, if you wish, you are also welcome to recreate the painting, “Sea Change” exactly as the artist rendered it. There are no strict rules here.

We will begin this paint and sip on July 11 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. with a meet and greet over cocktails and snacks -- think, potato pancakes, roasted vegetables, mac & cheese -- and Jackson Pollock's famous Apple Pie. One of Jackson Pollock’s favorite drinks included whiskey, therefore we will be serving whiskey this evening. Whether you take yours neat, on the rocks, or with a mixer, all options will be available.

Jackson Pollock was a down to earth, all American kind of guy who also loved to cook. After he passed away, New York based photographer Robyn Lea, found several recipes while visiting his home, and was inspired to create a cookbook called “Dinner with Jackson Pollock”. She included many of his and his wife’s favorite dishes and family recipes, including Pollock’s prize winning apple pie. So, of course, we will be serving some apple pie this evening. Don’t worry, we’ll also be offering a few savory bites, that Pollock loved, for you to enjoy with your cocktails.

After our meet and greet, we will briefly discuss the life of Jackson Pollock and we will go over some of the techniques that he used to create his paintings. We will then begin to use some of these techniques to recreate his painting “Sea Change”, which he painted in 1947, while listening to 1940’s/50’s Jazz, which was Pollock’s favorite kind of music.

Cost of the event is $55. This includes the painting, food + up to 2 whiskey drinks.

Also, although we will be using some of the artist’s techniques, please remember that this is not a technical painting class. This is a paint night where we can come together to celebrate his life, his art, and be inspired by his creative process, so we may channel our inner Pollock to recreate a beautiful painting that fuses our own creative energy with that of the artist.

Jackson Pollock was widely known for creating large scale splatter paintings, and Lori has a special surprise in store, on how we will be recreating a large scale Pollock style painting together, where everyone still gets to take a small version home.
