SOLD OUT: Perfect Pairings: Chef Pushkar Marathe & Master Somm Mariya Kova

Details

Join us for the launch of Perfect Pairings, a series of food and wine events bringing together the best in the industry.

We’re kicking things off on Saturday, November 2 at 7 p.m. with two of the best in the area — Master Sommelier Mariya Kovacheva and Executive Chef / Owner Pushkar Marathe of the soon-to-open Stage — and you are invited to attend. This first event, a wine class, will give you a chance to meet both, become familiar with their work and learn along the way.

Upon arrival, guests will enjoy a welcome cocktail — a Mango Cardamom Cava Spritz — then be seated for the class. Once seated, guests will be served the food and wine pairings. Mariya will teach guests about the wines, while Pushkar will present the food pairings.

Cost for this event is $50, all-inclusive, if purchased by Monday, October 28 and $55, thereafter. We expect this event to sell out, so be sure to purchase your tickets early if you’d like to attend.

** This event is now SOLD OUT and no more tickets are available. Only those people who have already purchased tickets will be admitted into the event. An RSVP or confirmation on meetup is not sufficient. **

Please note that this is a public event -- and the number of rsvps on here will not give you an accurate count. If you'd like to sit with our group, please mention that you heard about this event through Meetup when registering on the event page.

about the team
Pushkar Marathe

Born in Nagpur, India, Chef Pushkar Marathe’s culinary roots originate in the rich tapestry of flavors of his homeland, cultivated through cooking with his parents in their family kitchen. Yet, his desire to experience something more drew him out into the world. At age 20, Marathe began his culinary training in Switzerland before embarking on a decades-long, exploration of international cuisine. Marathe gathered knowledge and inspiration from diverse global cooking traditions from the far east of India to the western edge of California.

In addition to cooking at restaurants lead by his mentor Dean Max, he has held cooking positions at restaurants in the Caribbean, Cayman Islands, across the US, and the Middle East. In 2017, in collaboration with Niven Patel, Chef Marathe pushed the boundaries of Indian cuisine with Ghee Indian Restaurant, celebrating its fragrant delicacies alongside bold flavors — and in the fall of 2019, will open up his newest venture, Stage, where he will bring all of his culinary experiences and explorations together in a vital cuisine born of interwoven traditions.

Mariya Kovacheva

In 2012, Mariya became the first woman to have won the national titles of “TOP I SOMM” from the Guild of Sommeliers, as well as the “Somm Slam Champion” from the Star Chef Congress. In the same year, she together with Café Boulud Palm Beach team became a James Beard Foundation semifinalist for Outstanding Service. In September 2019, Mariya earned the Master Sommelier Diploma by the Court of the Master Sommeliers.
