The WordPress Helsinki meetup group aims to bring people of all skill levels together, from beginners to WordPress professionals. WordPress Helsinki is purely organised by community volunteers, and operates under the WordPress code of conduct.

GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) is in effect. If you’d like to hear more about what it means, how to comply or what are the best practises for technical implementation of GDPR, we are happy to announce that the June meetup is for you.

In the meetup Gennady Kurushin (@gkurushin) will share the key aspects of GDPR and Tiia Rantanen (@tirriainen) will be talking about GDPR for operations and development teams.

Gennady describes his talk as follows:
"The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is new EU legislation affecting any website or company storing data of EU citizens. The legislation takes effect on 25 May. Non-compliance with the new law might have serious financial consequences. During the Meetup we will discuss the key aspects of GDPR and how they might affect your website and business practices: what is GDPR and personal data, compliance checklist, understanding consent, WordPress and GDPR, helpful tips and tools."

Tiia will be talking about GDPR for operations and development teams. GDPR includes the privacy by default and privacy by design principles that can be troublesome if not taken into consideration in the beginning of the secure software development life cycle. What are the technical requirements to be considered as "best practices" that are mentioned in the regulation. What are the methods of implementation to the risk-based approach the general data protection regulation has.

Please note that WordPress Helsinki does not provide any legal advice, and this event is intended for informational purpose only.
