Our Speakers

Bryan Villarin started helping in the WordPress.org (http://wordpress.org/) forums in 2004, and got a WordPress.com (http://wordpress.com/) account the following year. Before getting hired by Automattic in February 2012, he was a Computer Network Assistant at a pro bono law firm, part-time college student, year-round volunteer coach for boys between K-6 (football, basketball, baseball, and soccer), freelance portrait/wedding photographer, and bass guitarist in a professional garage band. Now, he loves helping people at WordPress.com (http://wordpress.com/), and spending his free time with his lovely wife and precious cats.

Suzette Franck is the WordPress Evangelist at (mt) Media Temple, where she educates and advocates for WordPress and the WordPress Community. She typically attends 2-3 WordPress Meetups a week, and has spoken at 4 WordCamps this year: Phoenix, San Diego, Miami, and Reno; and will be speaking at her fifth in Seattle in June. She blogs frequently at suzettefranck.com (http://suzettefranck.com/) about WordPress and is a regular contributor on WPWatercooler.com (http://wpwatercooler.com/). She enjoys teaching about the wonders of WordPress and finding better ways to do things with it. She loves learning about web development and digging into code, which she has been doing for over 18 years. She discovered WordPress 5 years ago and has used it to create over 200 websites with a variety of designs and requirements, mostly with hand-coded custom themes, and is showing no signs of stopping.

Belsien Thomas has been building websites using WordPress since 2006 (since version 2.x). He has over 12+ years of experience in Web technology, dating back to launching his first online learning startup at age 17. He has helped community users, clients, and major brands achieve their online goals through using WordPress. He is an active member of theWordPress community and has spoken at WordCamp LA and has given talks on advanced WordPress topics such as Performance tuning, eCommerce, and Multisite at prior Meetup’s. He has started his own blog athttp://wppowerguide.com (http://wppowerguide.com/) where he shows people the power and flexibility of using WordPress in ways other than a typical blog. He has also put together free a WordPress training series at http://buildyourwpsite.com (http://buildyourwpsite.com/).

Natalie MacLees is a front-end web developer and UI designer and is founder + principal of the interactive agency,Purple Pen Productions (http://purplepen.com/). In 2012 she published jQuery for Designers (http://www.packtpub.com/jquery-for-designers-and-non-programmers-beginners-guide/book) with Packt Publishing. She founded and runs the jQuery LA Users' Group (http://meetup.com/jquery-la) and together with Noel Saw she heads up the Southern California WordPress User’s Group (http://socalwp.org/), organizing WordPress meetups, help sessions, and workshops. In 2010, she worked as technical reviewer onWordPress 3 Complete (http://www.packtpub.com/wordpress-3-complete/book) by April Hodge Silver.
