WHOEVER you are, please feel free to come and join us for this all-day creative writing workshop + food & drink + literary handouts!

Together, we'll be looking at how to begin a novel.

By the end of the day you'll have a host of your own new, creative ideas, whether you're working on an idea you already have, or a brand new piece of fiction.

What do you mean by "novel beginnings" (just so I know if this will be relevant to me)?

Beginning a new novel can be a daunting prospect.

In this workshop, we'll be exploring how established authors set out on some of their best works, and what the opening pages tell us about the main character(s), their thoughts, feelings, background(s), and challenges, and how this stacks up (or not) with the book's synopsis.

*Hint: if/when it comes to sending your work to an agent or publisher, this is something you'll want to get right, to make sure your work has the best chance of being read and appreciated and ultimately... published!

Okay, so what's the plan?

We'll start the day with teas/coffees and a warm-up writing session, then take a break for brunch.

After this, we'll get stuck into some reading, writing, and friendly, supportive conversation around the texts we're looking at (all opinions and perspectives will be welcome!).

4. A late afternoon/early evening drink (a pint of beer, glass of wine, or soft drink).

Everybody/anybody is welcome.

No experience necessary.
No pressure to pitch or share ideas in front of the group.
