Hi there ✨

Whoever you are, you're warmly invited to join us for a full-day writing workshop ✍️ with food & drink 🍴☕🍷, a pub quiz 🧠, and plenty of space to step outside the human view and see what else has something to say 🌳🦊🌊

Nature writing has a long tradition in literature and poetry. But what happens when we step into the frame ourselves, not as observers writing about what we see, but as nature? If we write as the tree, the fox, the river? And as humans who are a part of the natural world, rather than separate from it?

We'll be exploring a mixture of poetry and prose from writers including Jason Allen-Paisant, Mary Oliver, Irene Solà, Richard Powers, and Robert Macfarlane, discovering how different authors have given voice to nature through their writing, from animals to trees to even the weather, and how they've woven humans back into the natural world.

You'll then have a chance to try it yourself, with prompts to help you write a variety of different pieces, from a diverse range of nature perspectives.

What are we exploring? 🤔

• What does it feel like to write from inside a tree, a fox, a river, rather than looking at one?
• Where is the line between human and nature, and what happens on the page when we blur it?
• How have poets and novelists given voice to the non-human world, and what can we borrow from their methods?
• What changes in us when we stop being observers and start being part of it?

No dogma. No right answers. Just curiosity, close attention, and a willingness to see differently. 🌿

So, what's the plan? 🗓️

• Arrive at Finch's Pub (11am) for a warm welcome and a gentle warm-up writing session ✍️
• Settle into reading, conversation, and guided exploration of our featured writers 💬
• Break for food and drink 🍴
• Dive into an afternoon of deeper writing, trying out different nature perspectives 🍂
• Wind down with our end-of-day pub quiz! 🧠

This session will be hosted by writer, facilitator, and nature lover Shimrit Janes, co-author of Nature of Work: A New Story of Work for a Living Age.

Whoever you are, however you write, you're welcome here. No experience necessary, just an openness to explore.
