About us

Why do you use the words you use? And what are the building blocks of a sentence?

No matter the writing form, whether poetry, essay, fiction, etc, there are fundamental tools that each of us uses to get a point across. Tools we rarely give a moment’s thought. And yet, it’s the way we use these tools that makes or breaks our message. That makes a monologue burn with emotion, or drone in abstraction. That makes the text rhythmic like a song, or makes it bloated and clunky.

The tools I am referring to are grammar, word choice, literary devices, and sentence length, to name a few. I’ve been studying the power of these tools and the authors who use them since 2019, during and after my time as a creative writing student at Temple University.

I’ve had extensive experience performing writing exercises, using my knowledge to sharpen my prose, and sometimes, writing in a new style altogether. I’ve learned how the right words can make a good story even better; how it can make something mundane become hilarious.

Experimenting with language is my passion, and I want to share that with you. The exercises we’ll perform in this club will train your writer’s voice. You’ll be able to enhance your current style, and even write in new styles. Join us, as we improve and expand our writer’s voice.
