Terminology & Semantics - Defining and Managing Meaning in Documentation

Documentation is full of both common and unique terminology. Where does this terminology come from? And how do we manage the terms that we accept and use? How do we convey their meaning and ensure consistency?

David Elliott will present his experience of creating and managing terms through technical documentation, and discuss how a greater awareness can avoid confusion and embarrassment.

We'd love to hear how you personally manage to address issues of terminology and semantics. Feel free to talk about your ideas and experiences too, and bring along examples of guidelines and glossaries so that we all get a bigger picture.
