‘Healing through letters’ & ‘The path to maturity for HSPs’ - £60 for the day

Details

Welcome to a day of gentle HSP exploration in two sessions.

The morning session will be led by me, Nicola McDonald, Creative Writing Coach and Author. This is for anyone who would like to explore, using creative writing and letters, navigating the ‘uninvited’. (Particularly useful for anyone who might be dealing with, or has had to deal with an unexpected, difficult or even an unwelcome change or experience in their life).

For example, perhaps the experience of caring for a relative who is developing dementia, or facing redundancy at work, or coming to terms with disappointment.

In my ‘Healing Through Letters’ workshop, you will be working on therapeutic letter writing, which is based on uncensored thoughts and feelings that may never be sent.

Here are some of the Benefits of Letter Writing

Instead of holding on to the emotions evoked from each obstacle have faced and overcome, let your love, frustrations, enlightenments, condemnations and questions bleed out onto the pages.

  • 💌 Emotional Release: Writing therapeutic letters allows individuals to express and release pent-up emotions, which can lead to emotional relief and catharsis.
  • 💌 Clarity and Insight: The process of writing can help clarify thoughts and emotions, leading to greater self-understanding and insight into personal issues.
  • 💌 Stress Reduction: Expressing feelings through writing can reduce stress and anxiety, promoting mental well-being.
  • 💌 Healing and Closure: Writing letters to people (whether sent or not) can provide a sense of closure, especially in unresolved or difficult relationships.

The therapeutic letters are a release for your emotions, your needs, your demands and condemnations towards the person or object of your focus. The letter is an expression of your internal dialogue.

The afternoon session will be a gentle and lively discussion led by Barbara Allen-Williams. We explore aspects of the journey towards maturity as an HSP, along with the developmental and cultural challenges we might face along the way. Bring your thoughts and ideas, your sense of humour, share with the group if you would like to.

What to bring:
Yourself
A pen/pencil and letter paper, or laptop
Packed lunch

It goes without saying that in writing from our hearts, and exploring our day to day challenges, whilst this is not therapy, some of the material will be poignant and you might find the exploration therapeutic. Please share only what you feel comfortable with, there is no pressure to disclose anything unless you wish to. Tears, laughter, supportive listening or silence are all. welcome. Please respect the personal nature of the work by maintaining discretion about what you hear in the group :)

Practical matters:
The venue will be accessible from 10.30am in the morning until 5pm to allow for settling in and winding down at the end of the sessions. There is limited parking available on site, please reverse-park in the driveway so that you can easily manoeuvre when you exit at the end of the day. There is a garden centre (Dobbies) a few hundred yards from the venue if anyone wants to park there and car-share or walk down to Annadell House.
