Ghost Walk Cancelled

UPDATE: EVENT CANCELLED.
Guys –– this tears me up inside, more than you know, but after much heartache, I decided in the best interest of everyone to cancel this event. I hear (too late) that there will be riots in downtown Raleigh tonight. There could be violence. I thought it'd be in another area, but then heard it could be all over. I need to keep everyone safe. This almost makes me cry... I was sooooooo looking forward to it.

We could possibly do this tomorrow evening (on Halloween), but I'd have to see if my Night Creatures are available.

G H O S T ... W A L K

Do you want to celebrate Halloween this year, but find it difficult to do considering the pandemic? We offer a Covid–safe way.

Join us for a unique GHOST WALK.
Everyone will keep 6 feet apart.
No ghost stories this year :( because it's not a good idea for a crowd to stop and gather during a pandemic.
Instead, we will all walk through the streets, single file, keeping distance, as we encounter over a dozen 'Night Creatures' lurking about. None of the scary creatures will touch you. In fact, they will keep at least 6 feet from you. But they shall be lurking!!!

While this isn't publishing-related, we've had story-tellers in years past, and this has been a popular event with this group. So I wanted to spread the word.

WHERE:
Historic Oakwood in downtown Raleigh.
Meet in front of the Oakwood Cemetery Gate
at 700 Oakwood Ave.

Note that this event takes place OUTSIDE the cemetery.
The cemetery will be closed this time of night.

Park anywhere along Watauga Street,
or any near-by street.

HOW LONG WILL IT LAST?
The Ghost Walk should last about 40 minutes.

COST:
$5 (charity).
Please have exact change.
This will help prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

FAQ:

IS THIS A CHILD-FRIENDLY EVENT?
Yes, this is a child-friendly event. Kids may be a bit scared, in a fun way. No one will come within 6 feet of anyone.

IS PARKING A PROBLEM?
There’s plenty of parking, tho you may have to walk a block or two. Park anywhere on the surrounding neighborhood streets.

HOW WILL I FIND YOU?
Our desk is in front of the cemetery gate (a little to the left of the gate, as you face the gate from the street). We ask that everyone keep social distance while we prepare for the Ghost Walk, and wear a mask when you pay at the desk.

DOES THIS TAKE PLACE IN THE CEMETERY?
No. The cemetery closes at dark. We walk along the houses off the haunted streets, among Night Creatures.

DO WE WEAR COSTUMES?
Participants generally do not wear costumes, but you are welcome to, if you'd like.
