Welcome, writers, new and old! Whether you are a seasoned writer, a fresh new beginner, or someone returning to the long lost or neglected passion, this is the place for you. The mix of styles, experience levels, genres, and personalities makes for some good reading, good writing, good listening, and good conversation.

When we met in person, we passed the hat for donations. These go to the costs of running the group as well as towards my time spent organizing and supporting all of you lovely writers on your journeys. While some members continue to donate virtually (Thank You!), many do not. And you don't have to! But, I do spend a good amount of time keeping this group up and running, and time is valuable...So, I'm charging $5 per Monday meetup. I think first-timers should get to join us for free, and I am also more than happy to accommodate anyone for whom the $5 is a hardship. Payment info is at the bottom. Thank you all for understanding and participating for all these years.

HOW IT WORKS:
Rachel has set up a group file on Google Docs. We will provide the link during the meetup.

Open the link, click “+ New”
Choose your file from your computer. (.rtf or .docx is best for all)
CHECK THE DROP-DOWN MENU at the arrow/edit on the end of the file name box and select “CAN COMMENT” (rather than Can Edit or Can View)
Click Done / OK

SCHEDULE (Pacific PDT times):

6:15 Log-in and chat, sort out tech issues with Zoom and/or uploading files to Google Docs (Host will let you in from Zoom waiting room)
6:30 Introductions
6:40ish Start readers – anyone that didn’t get a chance to read the previous week, then new list
8:00ish 15 minute break
8:15/25 Second set of randomly chosen readers.
We still have some folks who log off earlier than others, so the last few readers can always choose the option of reading to those of us left or waiting to go first the next week.

When a reader begins, you can download the file or open it in the Google Drive or Google Docs directly, to read along. This allows you to scroll at your own pace, add comments (highlight a word, phrase, or paragraph to comment, or roll your cursor over the right margin of the doc “paper” to see a “+” pop up – click this + to add any comment you like).

We are getting used to the technology, so don’t fret. Ask questions as we go. The best thing to do is jump in, and we can troubleshoot as we need to.
