The Sandy Koufax Critique Night
Details
54 years ago, on January 19th, 1972, Sandy Koufax became the youngest player elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame. You may know that Sandy Koufax played college baseball for the University of Cincinnati Bearcats during the 1953-1954 school year. What you may not know is that Koufax started his collegiate athletic career with the UC mens basketball team as a walk-on (pictured above) for the Freshman squad. Coach Ed Jucker (who would coach UC's 1961 and 1962 national championship teams) was also the baseball coach. When Koufax mentioned he could also pitch, Jucker gave him a tryout. By the next year Koufax had attracted the attention of pro scouts, and was pitching for the Brooklyn Dodgers (soon to be the L.A. Dodgers), and the rest, as they say, is history.
Well, that's what some folks say.
In any case, in celebration of the creativeness of a wicked curve ball, we shall meet for virtual critique on the evening of January 19th, 2026. Please remember to use the New Zoom address we recently added.
This session we have submissions from Emily E. and Jeff to evaluate.
If you'd like to have your own fiction critiqued at a future meeting, AND you have attended at least one critique night in the last three (3) months, then you may secure one of our future critique slots for ten (10) double-spaced pages (12 pt. Times New Roman) of your new or recently-edited fiction, which needs constructive feedback, by sending a PM to one of our CFW admins here at our Meetup page, or at our private Facebook group: (https://www.facebook.com/groups/215904102149512).
All others, we ask you to please attend and lend your ears and voices to the discussions. If you plan to attend: RSVP (very important!), Attend (very important), Hear the Pages, Share your Thoughts, and Help your fellow writers. All of these too: very important !!!
See you all then! Long Live Critique !!!
