Overview

Step into a welcoming literary open mic: share prose, poetry, or standup, or just listen—perfect for newbies and seasoned writers to connect and grow.

Details

This is Orlando's premier literary open mic, where writers, poets, musicians, and comics can take the stage and share their material with a group of supportive, positive people.

You can read an excerpt of a novel, an essay, part of a memoir, a poem (or two), a radio play, or a piece of standup you've been working on. If you're stage-shy, you can even get someone else to read your work for you.

This month's featured writer is Mamie Willoughby Pound.

Mamie is the founder of Gather, a writing community based in Columbus, Georgia that sponsors local and regional workshops and seminars. She holds an MFA in Creative Writing. Her work is featured in Smokelong Quarterly, James Dickey Review, Image Journal, Gooseberry Pie, Ghost Parachute, Bath Flash Fiction Anthology 2024, and Milk Candy Review among others. Her work was long listed for the Craft Fiction Award. Her chapbook was a finalist in Fractured Lit’s Chapbook Prize 2024.

She. is the current writer in residence at the Kerouac House in College Park.
