This is Orlando's premier literary open mic, where writers, poets, musicians, and comics can take the stage and share their material with a group of supportive, positive people.

You can read an excerpt of a novel, an essay, part of a memoir, a poem (or two), a radio play, or a piece of standup you've been working on. If you're stage-shy, you can even get someone else to read your work for you.

Our featured presenter will be Aleathia Dupree.
Aleathia “GG” Dupree, a very down-to-earth mother, friend, and entertainer, was born and raised in Orlando, FL, and has grown to be a pillar in the arts community. This well-rounded artist found her start after winning the 2008 African Safari of Florida beauty pageant and went on to build a dynamic creative career—making music, hosting events, appearing in stage plays and films, and performing both hip hop and poetry regionally and nationally.
She has had the honor of competing at the National Poetry Slam, the Individual World Poetry Slam, the Women of the World Poetry Slam, and again at the National Poetry Slam. She has also competed in the Southern Fried Poetry Slam across multiple cities, including Greenville, NC; Greensboro, NC; Louisville, KY; San Antonio, TX; and Fayetteville, NC.
After stepping away from the stage due to serious medical challenges and the demands of motherhood, Aleathia took time to heal, grow, and pour into her family. Now, she returns to poetry with renewed purpose—honoring the life and legacy of her son through every word she speaks.
In June 2026, she will represent DeLand’s Breaking Bad Poetry team at the Southern Fried Poetry Slam, marking a powerful return to the stage in the very city that raised her.
Her goal remains the same: to spread—and be inspired by—good, sincere love and energy through raw, natural talent and authenticity.
