No doubt you’ve heard about content strategy. Maybe you’ve read books and blogs about it, but if you’re like me, it can still seem like an ethereal, theoretical concept. We’ve been exploring this at Atlassian.
Truth is, content strategy is at the core of decisions that technical writers make daily about content experience, editorial guidelines, content structure, and process.
The agency Brain Traffic has defined this as the Content Strategy Quad, a fantastic metaphor for explaining content strategy. It makes a good graphic in presentations, but what if the quad could do more? What if you could turn it into a tool for building shared understanding, breaking down barriers, building a content strategy, and delivering on it? We’ve done that, and now you can gather any team and use five key questions to form an actionable content strategy.

About our speaker
John Collins is a Senior Content Designer on the Content Design team at Atlassian, where he’s the design lead for the Atlassian documentation site. He was the primary content designer for the Atlassian Community site that launched in 2017, and he has extensive experience with content strategy, technical writing, and localization. He’s still learning and exploring content, design, and how we do what we do.
