What we’re about
I help you to publish your work on Zoom every Friday for free. I give you a list of magazines and presses, and I tell you all the nuts and bolts of publishing. I hold live events in Western New York and on Zoom all the time.
The goal is to break down gatekeeping and help you to publish.
I was a creative writing professor and director of creative writing for Mt. San Antonio College for over 20 years. Now, I'm retired, and I just want to help people.

See all- Poetry: 30 Day until DoneLink visible for attendees
Join me, John Brantingham, professor emeritus of creative writing for a month-long poetry class in the month of May. This class will be online through video lectures and Zoom-based office hours. Each day you will be given a new prompt. I will help you write poetry and publish it in magazines if you like. My students have published in The New Yorker, McSweeneys, and The Paris Review among other places. The class is a pay-what- you-like class. I suggest $300, but if you cannot afford that, pay less or if you cannot afford to pay anything, contact me. I have some scholarships. I would rather you take this for free than not take it because you can’t afford it. There will be an opportunity to participate in a poetry reading at the end of the month. We will meet on Zoom for feedback and coaching, but you do not need to join these to be a part of the class. To register, email me at johnmbrantingham@gmail.com. In the subject line write, “Poetry Class.”

- Free Publishing Workshop on FridaysLink visible for attendees
On Fridays from 4-7pm (New York time) I run a publishing workshop. It's for all levels of experience. We submit up to 50 pieces a week to magazines or presses. I gather 50 or more publications that are currently looking for work, and on Fridays, we all meet and send work out together. This has me doing all the work of gathering publications. The attendees don't have to. We sit and send out as much work as we can on Friday. I typically send out 50 pieces, but others might submit 10 or just 1. It doesn't matter. If someone is nervous or doesn't understand the process, I teach them. This is totally free. When we publish and others read our work, life becomes gentler for them and for us.
