What we’re about

This writing community of discovery is for individuals to have an opportunity to explore their own use of writing in their daily lives.

You don't need to consider yourself "a writer" to participate; we're more so interested in each individual's "writing journey", be it one involving work emails, personal journaling, game campaigns, shopping lists, or novels and the like.

We have two main types of events:

# Reflective Writing Activity and Discussion

We spend 15 or so minutes performing an individual activity - typically in the form of a few self-reflective questions related to writing that aim to get us thinking - then spend another 20 minutes or so discussing the activity and our responses as a group.

Think of it as a quick and to-the-point way of getting a little more familiar with how and why you write, in the company of others doing the same.

# Boardgames and Word Puzzles

We play quick and casual boardgames like Scrabble, So Clover!, and Bananagrams, or word puzzles like crossword puzzles or riddles that involve words or word play.
First and foremost, it's a easy-going way to start the weekend off some fun and social brain exercise.

Second, it presents an opportunity for us to learn new words, or use words in new ways.
The "Writing Community of Discovery and Practice" meets on a biweekly basis, with its core events alternating between being either a "Reflective Writing Activity and Discussion" or "Boardgames and Word Puzzles". Both are casual and low-commitment, and you certainly do not need to consider yourself a writer to attend.
