WV Book Club

Our Monthly Book Discussion group has been challenging, inspiring, and most of all, also a lot of fun building relationships in our committed community-by-design. People in the Blue Zones live longer, happier lives through stronger, committed relationships within community. Our book club looks to support great discussions, new insights, and caring relationships with others as we explore new thoughts, beliefs, and insights generated by the books we choose. Every voice gets heard; every voice has a safe place to land.

I love that it has taken me into literary pastures I may not have chosen if left to my own choices. Allowing each one come up with suggestions is fun and a bit of an adventure – learning made fun and easy, an adventure that safeguards us from our usual patterns of choices or beliefs. We don’t know what we don’t know until…

'From the Ashes' by Jesse Thistle. This is one of the books from the
Canada Read 2020 selection.

This is Jesse's memoir of his life journey being Métis, homeless and finding his way in life. His many deep struggles, yet he has risen and he shares what it means to be human. His life was impacted by prejudices and racism, but love and support help him find happiness despite the odds.
