Machu Picchu, a UNESCO World Heritage site, Cusco & Amazon Rainforest!

DATES: Sat, August 15 - Sat, August 23, 2026 (9-day trip). You will need to fly out of Atlanta on Fri, August 14.

ITINERARY:

Day 1 (Sat - August 15): Arrival in Lima, Flight to Cusco & Transfer to Urubamba: Fly to Cusco and transfer privately to the Sacred Valley. This lower-altitude stay helps with acclimatization while enjoying beautiful Andean scenery. Overnight at Augusto Hotel (Urubamba).

Day 2 (Sun - August 16): Sacred Valley: Ollantaytambo, Maras & Moray: Full-day guided exploration of the Sacred Valley鈥檚 highlights. Visit Ollantaytambo, the Maras salt pans, and the circular terraces of Moray, plus lunch at Mountain View. Overnight at Augusto Hotel. B, L

Day 3 (Mon - August 17): Short Inca Trail: Begin the Short Inca Trail for a rewarding day hike along ancient Inca routes. Enjoy panoramic views and arrive to Machu Picchu via the Sun Gate (route/season permitting). Overnight at Tierra Viva (Aguas Calientes). B, L

Day 4 (Tue - August 18): Machu Picchu & Return to Cusco: Early guided visit to Machu Picchu focusing on the main sectors and viewpoints. After free time for photos, return by train and private transfer back to Cusco. Overnight at El Balcon. B

Day 5 (Wed - August 19): Cusco Walking Tour: Explore Cusco on a guided walking tour through historic streets and lively plazas. Discover Inca foundations, colonial architecture, and local culture along the way. Overnight at El Balcon. B

Day 6 (Thu - August 20): Flight to the Rainforest: Take a domestic flight into the Amazon region and continue to your rainforest lodge via boat. Get a first introduction to the surrounding jungle environment by visiting a shiringuero encampment. Overnight at Corto Maltes. B, L, D

Day 7 (Fri - August 21): Rainforest Activities (Corto Maltes): Early breakfast. We travel on the river to Lake Sandoval and then do a 3 km hike through the vegetation. We enter Tambopata National Reserve and admire the wildlife of the jungle. We will also look for giant river otters. We visit a lookout tower. Learn about Amazon biodiversity and local ecosystems with your naturalist guide. Overnight at Corto Maltes. B, L, D

Day 8 (Sat - August 22): Rainforest Activities (Corto Maltes): Travel down river to Chacra to visit a locally owned farm. Taste seasonal tropical fruits. Visit with the Machigeuenga ethnic group showing us the cultural value of their ancestors, including language, customs, etc. Overnight at Corto Maltes. B, L, D

Day 9 (Sun - August 23): Departure: Wake up very early and then walk to a 'clay lick' to see 3 to 5 types of parrots. Return to lodge for breakfast, then onto Puerto Maldonado to visit a local market. Then transfer to the airport for the 1h30m flight back to Lima. Connect to your international flights. End of services. B

OPTION (extra cost): For those with late flights, we can add on a trip into Lima for some shopping and dinner before catching your international flight.

Every trip itinerary and its components has particular conditions and policies regarding cancellation. In addition to any cancellation penalties related to non-refundable components (e.g. permits, airfare, hotel, tour, etc.), the following fees will apply, 25% of trip cost 90 days or more prior to travel date, 50% of trip cost 89 to 31 days prior to travel date, cancellations made within 30 days of travel date are non-refundable. Our cancellation penalties apply as soon as we have received payment. Please be advised that some reservations, regardless of proximity to check-in date, are completely non-refundable. Cancellations for any reason whatsoever, including medical reasons, death in the family, strikes, wars, weather, natural disasters, airline default or government travel warnings will not entitle you to any refund in the case of nonrefundable reservations.
