Our 2020 Outdoor Yoga Movement season is planning to lauch July 4th weekend.
Our emphasis this year is to provide throw back 'Power Yoga' in the Bryan Kest and Rodne Yee Americana traditions! Why?
We love Detroit Yoga, the hotter, the more intense, the more deeply penetrating music through your core and throughout our bones. HOWEVER, given the experience we are all going through together from Covid19 to Civil Unrest or Unemployment to Underemployment, the throw back yoga, we believe is slower, more gentle, builds more true Core Body Heat (absent the heat lamps and yada yada ) and MOST IMPORTANTLY the space between breaths, the quietness of mind and environment, the gentle instruction and loving touch absent humorous sarcasms and trendy jargon creates the meditative space we all are seeking, needing, and require to rejuvinate for the day, from day to day, and for the long - haul of societal change we are going through. The goal of our yoga classes are to help you leave lighter, a light fighter, and levitate through levity you can share after the practice while burning some of your day to day karma that we may be holding onto as stress in the body, and a hot messy mind.
Due to the following safety concerns below, our sister program, Ann Arbor Outdoor Yoga is developing a yoga platform in their garden for small group, community practices permitting social distancing for upto 4 students (if you've ever considered how much space one person needs to practice yogaa (6'x4')=24 sq ft before considering social distancing).
We our continuously reviewing how 'Reopening Detroit' along with 'Reopening Michigan' is progressing to determine the 'Go' or 'No Go' status. Many yoga studios are jumping to offer outdoor yoga to accomodate social distancing, clean air, and serve more yoga students than what is permitted via indoor studio or online via Zoom type TV classes.
We feel very warm expressing a degree of caring required for safe outdoor yoga that includes not only prophylacdtic Covid19 before by the general public, but also assessing park safety according to the level of 'tick diey off' and the 'pesticide' treatments at the parks to kill the ticks while contaminating the grass. So we will continue our tradition to practice outdoor yoga on prepared surfaces like concrete, wood decks, patios of one type or another.
