The word 'Zen' itself means meditation and we sit for a half hour, often with a KOAN, a simple STORY that reflects our life, and then have tea and conversation. No experience is necessary; we are all beginners.

JON JOSEPH ROSHI, a Teacher in the PACIFIC ZEN INSTITUTE lineage, began sitting decades ago and has been a student of JOHN TARRANT ROSHI (Bring Me the Rhinoceros), the director of PZI, since the late 1980s.
