Do you like reading and want to meet up to discuss books? Would you like to discover more LGBTQ+ books & authors? Then why not join our Book Club? This social evening will give you the opportunity to meet other book lovers and discuss what you liked, or disliked, about our book of the month.

West London Queer Project is a LGBTQ+ group that has been hosting events and activities for the local LGBTQ+ community for over three years. Please note that a lot of our regular members don’t use Meet Up, so the numbers of people attending our events will be substantially bigger than the amount you will see here as registered to attend.

Our next Book Club will be centred around On Earth We’re Briefly Gorgeous by Ocean Vuong, first published in 2020. In addition, we will also be reading some of Ocean’s poems from Night Sky With Exit Wounds

We suggest that everyone who would like to join our Book Club on this date purchases the book (either electronically or physically), and comes prepared to talk about the book. Even if you started reading but didn’t finish, you are still welcome to join, but please be aware that discussions can cover all aspects of the book, including the ending.

About the book:
THE MILLION-COPY BESTSELLER AND TIKTOK SENSATION

'A marvel' Marlon James

Brilliant, heart-breaking and highly original, discover Ocean Vuong's shattering coming of age novel.

This is a letter from a son to a mother who cannot read. Written when the speaker, Little Dog, is in his late twenties, the letter unearths a family's history that began before he was born. It tells of Vietnam, of the lasting impact of war, and of his family's struggle to forge a new future.

And it serves as a doorway into parts of Little Dog's life his mother has never known - episodes of bewilderment, fear and passion - all the while moving closer to an unforgettable revelation.

'Reminded me that every word can be an incantation, and that beauty does hard and important work' Rebecca Solnit
