Non-Fiction Book Club: A Day in the Life of Abed Salama
Details
A moving work of narrative nonfiction, this Pulitzer Prize–winning book follows one father’s desperate search for his son after a tragic accident near Jerusalem. Through the lens of a single day, the story expands to reveal the human impact of life under occupation, the complexities of bureaucracy, and the deeply personal cost of political realities. With compassion and journalistic clarity, the book offers an intimate portrait of a community navigating grief, resilience, and hope.
Non-fiction book club will happen as a separate event from our fantasy/sci-fi book club, these events will be hosted once every 2-3 months depending on the interest.
I realize that some of the themes and stories we read may spark strong emotional reactions and lead to lively discussion. Every story—fiction or not—affects each of us differently, and we all bring our own experiences, beliefs, and perspectives. With that in mind, I ask that we approach every conversation with respect and care, creating a space where everyone feels welcome and heard.
