About us
This group is for anyone interested in creating garden havens, xeriscape (saving water), growing food, flowers, trees, shrubs, perennials, annuals, starting plants from seeds, organic practices, supporting pollinators and wildlife, finding ways to extend the season, and even gardening with limited time.
Xeriscape does not mean just rock!
All skill levels are welcome, and hopefully we can learn from each other. I'm open to ideas.
There is so much to learn about our unique growing climate and I'm currently cultivating my own garden areas into a more productive and sustainable landscape, while figuring out ways to keep things affordable.
I have a townhouse in Arvada so, limited space, a hydroponic garden indoors, and am also working to try to make my HOA common area more sustainable.
I have also learned some new and unusual methods of organic gardening I would love to share.
I have a degree in landscape architecture and over 40 years experience growing and designing in Colorado.

Growing Food & Year-Round Color @Arvada Community Garden
Arvada Community Gardens, 57 th & Garrison St, Arvada, CO, USI (Amy Johnson) will be teaching this class, so I am cross-posting it here. The organizers of Classes at the Arvada Community Garden Meetup Group ask you to please RSVP in both places, here and in that group, if you would like to attend.
Can you grow food AND have a beautiful garden? Yes! Many food crops need pollinators, yet the flowers on the crops themselves are often not enough to support the pollinators. By designing your garden to contain both food and year-round color, you ensure not only beauty, but a continuous supply of pollen for the pollinators on which much of our food depends. You can even incorporate both flowers and color in winter with one native plant. Amy Johnson
This event is 6:00p.m. outside at the garden. FREE and open to the public.
