"On seeing one thing, you are perceiving ALL. On perceiving any individual's mind, you are perceiving ALL Mind. Obtain a glimpse of one way and ALL ways are embraced in your vision, for there is nowhere at all which is devoid of the Way."

 -Huang Po

The Xian Ch'an Dao (Way of the Immortal Mind) is a Sangha for people who truly want to practice the Great Matter within the heart of the dharma of the first six patriarchs of Ch'an, with sprinklings of Lao Tzu, Chuang Tzu, Taoist Internal alchemy (Neidan) and  such famous Zen masters as Benkei.

The Xian Chan Dao is a very different Sangha. We are not seeking the average Buddhist enthusiast.  We are open to those whose dharma eye has begun to open through the stirring of prajna, or a minor kensho and realized something that shakes them to their core.

This causes them to begin to see to the root, to fundamental principle and then to compare it to what their present Zendo or Buddhist association is teaching as the dharma.  Once the sleeper has begun to awaken, the errors begin to be seen.  Where then do you go if you discover that your Zendo is possibly a withered limb attached to a petrified tree? That your Roshi's received what they have as a transmission from paper to paper inside of the scriptures? That pop-psychology and popular passions have replaced the Real Dharma? Where indeed!

If you find yourself at the top of a 20-foot pole looking where to step off, contact us.  We will know you and you will know us immediately.

Namaste.
