XR Nights - The Journey of an XR Product

We’ve got a great event for you to kick off 2025, with prolific XR creator and CTO of Gugenka, Kiral Poon joining us to talk on the “Journey of the XR Product”. We’ll also be sharing a big announcement on our mission to bring the community and event to the next level in 2025.

Join us as we delve into the remarkable journey of Gugenka Inc., a trailblazer in the XR industry since 2016. In this talk, Kiral Poon, who is from Canada that can speaks English and Japanese, CTO of Gugenka, will narrate how the company pioneered the AR application HoloModels—an immersive platform that allows users to interact with digital figures—and expanded their services with MakeAvatar to revolutionize character creation.

Discover how Gugenka integrated a wide range of anime IPs into their platforms, riding the wave of growing interest in metaverse experiences and staying ahead despite emerging competitors in 2019.

Learn how a pivot to a simpler, viewer-only mode for HoloModels helped dramatically boost sales and engagement, proving that innovation doesn’t always require complexity. We’ll also be kicking this event off with a big announcement on our plans for the community and event for 2025 and beyond. After our experiences rebooting the event last year and getting to meet many amazing people in the scene, we really felt how strong the XR community was here in Tokyo and knew we could do more. In our efforts to take our community to the next level, we’re excited to be announcing our community brand as well as sharing some of our roadmap and plans for how we’re looking to elevate the community and provide a platform to better enable its members.

This next event will again be a free event and we’ll be making snacks and drinks available for attendees - while the event is free we will have an optional box for donations. Attendance is limited so be sure to RSVP early to guarantee your place.
