Ottawa Debate Club Meet

Hi everyone,
Do you run your evenings as a full-time keyboard warrior? LARPing on Reddit, confidently generalizing topics that are far too complex and nuanced for any sane person to tackle in a comment thread? We see you. You’ve been to enough meetups, fumbled through enough awkward introductions, and left thinking, “I should’ve just stayed home and argued with strangers online.”
But what if there was… another way?
We’re launching a Debate Club—your new excuse to tickle your thinking patterns, learn something new, make a few foes (and maybe a friend or two), and finally argue with real people in your city. Eye contact included. The topics will be wide-ranging, spicy, inclusive, and occasionally chaotic (in a good way).
Each speaker gets 3 minutes to present their case and rebut. The debates will be strictly timed, moderately moderated, and gently judged by your peers. Humor is welcome. Kindness is mandatory. Ego is optional.
We’re hosting this at the round table where the businesss has been kind to give us the venue, so please order something to support Royal Oak—capitalism is still a thing. And if you can’t keep your cool? You will be asked to leave… and we’ll all dramatically pretend you never existed.
Come for the intellectual bloodsport, stay for the civil discourse—and maybe a beer.
