Description: Please join me for a weekend of backpacking along the AT on Virginia’s famous Triple Crown. Our backpack will feature 2.5 days and 2 nights. We will arrange our cars for a shuttle, beginning at the Andy Kay parking lot below Tinker’s Cliff and ending at the Dragon’s Tooth trailhead and parking area. Our itinerary is outlined as follows –
Day 1: Arrive at Dragon’s Tooth Parking Area by 3PM; shuttle to Andy Kay; hike Tinker’s Cliff and camp along Tinker’s Mountain. Water source at Catawba Creek and/or Tinker Cliffs.
Day 2: Leave camp; hike from Tinker’s Cliff to McAfee Knob; camp at McAfee Knob. Water source at Cambell Shelter.
Day 3: Hike from McAfee Knob to Dragon’s Tooth and return to cars in parking area. Water refills available at Catawba Mountain & John Spring shelters.
Shuttle logistics and carpool information will be sent out closer to time of the trip. Pets are welcome, but must be kept on a leash.
