Doughton Park: Brinegar Cabin to Alligator Back Overlook and Back

Please join me for what I consider one of the most pleasant hikes overlooking the Yadkin Valley. This hike will be an out-and-back, beginning at Brinegar Cabin along the Blue Ridge Parkway, extending out across the scenic grassy, rolling balds of Doughton Park, to the Alligator Back Overlook and back. This hike will feature breathtakingly stunning views of the Brushy Mountains, Basin Cove, and the rolling foothills of the Yadkin Valley.

No need to pack lunch! We will have a snack at the Alligator Back Overlook and stop for lunch at the Bluff’s Restaurant on our way at back to Brinegar Cabin.

This is a fairly easy hike with minimal elevation gain challenges and offers surreal hiking scenery that I can only describe as “Hiker Heaven-on-Earth.”
