Total Elevation Gain: 1867ft

IMPORTANT INFO - VA state parks charge admission. Grayson Highlands admission fee is $10.00 - while they do accept card, I recommend bringing cash as there is not always someone manning the ranger’s station.**
Please join me for a day of walking across the beautiful balds of Grayson Highlands State Park. It is difficult for words to describe the beauty of this area - the views are awe-inspiringly scenic and the temperature is typically much cooler this time of year along the Allegheny Plateau.
We will begin hiking at the Grayson Highlands trail in a larger loop until we ascend the Scales and join the Crest trail. We’ll hike over the rocky scrambles of Wilburn Ridge and descend back into the Highlands where we may chance to see some wild ponies or steer.
Please bring lunch, plenty of water, salty snacks, and be prepared for an all-day-adventure in the Highlands.
