Hike to Höllenstein, Hoher Ge and K2

Dear hiking friends,

On Sunday, 5.10.2025, I make a longer and demanding hike starting from Kaltenleutgeben. We hike over the Höllenstein (645m, with lookout point but not always open), the Hoher Ge (532m), the K2 (549m, if you ever want to stand on K2 then this is your hike), the Kammersteinerhütte (with lookout tower) and the Franz Ferdinand Schutzhaus to Rodaun. There are also some smaller caves along the way. The trail also includes some steeper parts.

Length of the tour: approx. 15km
Duration: approx. 5-6h including breaks
Altitude difference: approx. 650m up and 800m down

We meet in Vienna Liesing railway station at 8:40 (or at latest 8:50) am at bus platform G or 4 (bus 255 direction Sulz im Wienerwald Schöffelstrasse). There we take bus leaving at 8:53h to Kaltenleutgeben Langenbergstrasse. Everyone has to buy the ticket to Kaltenleutgeben Langenbergstrasse themselves. Kaltenleutgeben is no longer in zone 100 in Vienna, so you still have to buy a ticket in Vienna Liesing on the bus to Kaltenleutgeben.

Hiking start: Kaltenleutgeben Langenbergstrasse at 9:12h
Return: Rodaun Schleife (terminus of tram line 60) at approx. 15:00h

Everyone has to bring their own food and drink (about 1.5 liters), as we will not stop for a bite to eat. We take breaks to rest and eat as needed. Please wear suitable shoes for longer hikes, which should have already been worn. New shoes sometimes cause blisters on longer hikes.

My hikes and mountain hikes are free of charge and purely private joint leisure events. I am not a certified hiking or mountain guide. Participation is at your own responsibility and risk.
