Autumn hike to Anninger, Matterhörndl an Hussarentempel
Details
On Sunday, 9.11.2025, I am planning a challenging hike starting in Gaaden Berggasse always uphill to the Anninger with Wilhelmswarte (675m) and then almost always downhill to the Eschenkogel with Kaiser Jubiläumswarte (653m), to the Matterhörndl (456m), to the Hussar Temple (490m), to the Niklashöhle, to the Mödling castle ruins (332m, here it goes uphill one last time) to Mödling train station.
Length of the tour: approx. 16 km
Duration: approx. 6h (breaks included)
Altitude difference: approx. 600m up and 700m down
We meet in Vienna Meidling at 8:40 a.m. at the latest at the ticket machines or seats of the ÖBB Lounge. The train (S2) leaves at 8:49h from platform 2. In Mödling we change to bus 265 (platform C, direction Gaaden at Mödling Kichenplatz) and drive to Gaaden bei Mödling Berggasse. For whom it is better, you can also meet us in Mödling at bus platform C. Everyone has to buy the train and bus ticket themselves.
Start: Gaaden bei Mödling Berggasse at 9:39h
Return: at approx. 16:00h from Mödling train station
Everyone has to bring their own food and drink (at least 1.5 liters), as we will not stop for a bite to eat. We take breaks to rest and eat as needed.
My hikes and mountain hikes are free of charge and purely private joint leisure events. I am not a certified hiking or mountain guide. Participation is at your own responsibility and risk.
As always, I am looking forward to fun hiking companions!
Best regards, Christian
