Hike in the Lainzer Tiergarten

On Sunday, 21.12.2025, I am planing a hike in the Lainzer Tiergarten. We meet at the U4 station Hütteldorf, walk through the Nicolaitor and hike to the Hubertuswarte (a lookout tower) on the Kaltbründelberg (508m). We continue to the main entrance, the Lainzer Tor and on another path back via the Nicolaitor to the U4 station Hütteldorf. At Lainzertor there is the possibility to take bus 56B, e.g. to U4 Wien Hietzing. So if you want, you can end the hike at the Lainzer Tor.

So there are two hiking options of different lengths:

1. U4 station Hütteldorf to Lainzer Tor:
Length of the tour: approx. 12km
Duration: approx. 3.5h
Altitude difference: approx. 300m up and 250m down

2. U4 station Hütteldorf, Lainzer Tor to U4 station Hütteldorf (circular hike):
Length of the tour: approx. 18km
Duration: approx. 5.5h
Altitude difference: approx. 500m up and 500m down

We meet at 9 a.m. outside (and south) of the U4 station Hütteldorf at the lift at the pedestrian bridge over the Vienna River (see the photo below).

Everyone has to bring their own food and drink (at least 1 liter), as we will not stop for a bite to eat. We take two to three breaks to rest and eat as needed.
