Join members of the club and other backcountry enthusiasts at RMIT for
this year's 21st Annual Winter Wildlands Alliance Backcountry Film Festival.
The backcountry film festival is a pre winter institution in Melbourne. This year’s screenings are a collection of 10 short documentaries and ski movies about the pursuit of adventure in the mountains, artistic vision, friendship, and how the snowsports community is adapting to a changing environment.
Hosted by Friends of the Earth, the festival will screen in the city at:

The plan is:
- Arrive from 6pm for yarns, merchandise, info stalls. Good chance to meet up with other YHA XC Ski members.
- The program kicks off at 6pm: starting with a few speakers from groups like Mountain Safety Collective and the Victorian Backcountry Festival, and a mini launch of this year's Mountain Journal print magazine, then
- at 6.30pm, we will screen the program that is put together by the US-based Winter Wildlands Alliance (check below for the listing of films, there will be a brief interval half way through)
- Followed by a selection of locally made backcountry films, including Alpine Odyssey, which covers Huw Kingston's winter crossing of the Australian Alps
- Finish by 8.00om
