American Feminism: What it is and How it Spread Across the World
Details
🇺🇸 American feminism didn’t just shape the United States, it reshaped the world. American feminism is key to understanding gender politics today. If you’ve ever wondered how we got here and how to move forward with more balance and less polarization, this is the session you won’t want to miss.
We take a deep, eye-opening look at how U.S. universities, activism, and media built the philosophical and cultural foundation of what is now known globally as “Modern Feminism.”
But what exactly makes American feminism unique? Why has it been adopted, or resisted, across the world? And how did a university-based ideology dominate dating, workplace norms, mental health trends, and gender relations from Sweden to South Africa?
In this session, we explore American feminism.
- Why are American women some of the most educated and empowered in history, yet also among the most anxious and medicated?
- Why do some of the biggest rifts in American dating, politics, and campus life trace directly back to decisions made in Women’s Studies departments decades ago?
We’ll also look at how movements like #MeToo generated both empowerment and backlash, reshaping public trust, social norms, and global conversations about men and women.
Expect a nuanced discussion that goes beyond praise or criticism. You’ll hear surprising facts rarely discussed in mainstream feminist spaces.
