Vinyasa Krama is a breath-focused traditional yoga practice rooted in the classical lineage of Sri T. Krishnamacharya. This class is taught in authentic traditional way as transmitted by Srivatsa Srivatsa Ramaswami, the longest standing student of Shri T Krishnamacharya. The practice is centered around the art of sequencing postures in a step-by-step order (the krama) so that each one prepares the body for the next one. Vinyasa Krama practice co-joins hundreds of breath-guided classical Yoga movements in a sequential manner. The practice emphasizes on Ujjayi breath and intelligent progression of movements (krama), to gradually build strength, flexibility and awareness. Vinyasa Krama sequences lead towards the final & advanced asanas safely & gradually. Every posture becomes the foundation for the next pose and is paired with counter-movements to return the spine and joints to neutral. This helps restore balance & promote inner harmony. Vinyasa Krama is a highly disciplined practice developed by Sri T. Krishnamacharya (the father of modern yoga). A 60-minute class incorporates Asana (yogic movements), Pranayama (breath work) and Dharana/ Dhyana (meditation). The Asana (physical exercise) practice involves repetitive dynamic movements aligned with breath to strengthen joints & muscles, and the static postures to nourish the internal organs. Pranayama (Breath work) practice enhances the flow of energy and the Dharana/Dhyana (mindfulness & meditation) practice centers the mind & helps develop focus. The intelligent sequencing approach of Vinyasa Krama practice balances the flow of energy, strengthens & purifies the body, improves flexibility, mobility & range of motion and brings clarity of thought with its breath focused movements. Suitable for all levels.
