Talk 1: AWS Cost Optimisation
Speaker: Aled Sage, Cloudsoft
Cost optimisation in AWS is important, but also hard! We will explain why understanding cost helps you not only save money but use the cloud smarter. We'll talk you through how to review and reduce costs and then cover some advanced topics, like querying the Cost and Usage Report (CUR) with Athena. We'll discuss some eye opening moments we've see with customers in certain services and some hints and tips on how to improve your knowledge and take advantage of AWS billing.

Talk 2: Container DevSecOps Pipeline
Speaker Liz Duke, AWS
When it comes to securing container workloads I like to start at the container. If the container isn’t secure then your workload isn’t secure. Building in security with open source tools and a pipeline is a good place to start so let’s look at how we can do this.

Food and drink
We’ll be providing a range of drinks, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic, at the venue, from BJSS (https://www.bjss.com/), our sponsors for this event.
Food will be in the form of pizza - please let us know if you have any specific dietary requirements prior to the day and we will endeavour to meet your needs.
Code of conduct
Like a large number of other communities, we have an anti harassment policy and code of conduct (https://www.meetup.com/York-Amazon-Web-Services-User-Group/pages/32649582/Code_of_Conduct/), in order to support the inclusive nature of our events. It is necessary for all attendees, speakers, sponsors and volunteers at any AWS Leeds to agree with the code of conduct.
Helping with diversity and inclusivity
The organising team for AWS York are keen to promote diversity and inclusivity, in terms of speakers, how events are run, and the composition of the organising team. If you would like to contribute to this aim, particularly if you think you have experiences that you might not consider to be typical for the majority of the tech community, we would be really excited to talk with you at the event.
