Established in June 2021, York Social Group is a welcoming and dynamic community dedicated to reducing loneliness by fostering meaningful connections among people in York and the wider community. Aimed primarily at individuals in their 20s and 30s, we offer a wide range of accessible social opportunities that make it easy to meet new people and feel integrated within the community.

⚠️ Community Guidelines: Two-Strike Policy
To ensure a positive experience for all members, we have established a clear code of conduct:

First Strike: Warning
- Examples include:
  - Unwanted attention or persistent communication after being asked to stop.
  - Inappropriate comments or jokes that make others uncomfortable.
  - Disruptive behaviour at events, such as excessive intoxication.
Second Strike: Suspension
- Examples include:
  - Repeatedly violating group norms after a first strike.
  - Ignoring feedback or requests to modify behaviour.
Immediate Suspension
- Severe behaviours result in immediate suspension without a prior warning:
  - Physical assault or threats of violence.
  - Harassment, including sexual harassment.
  - Hate speech or discriminatory behaviour against any individual or group.

Members are encouraged to report incidents using our Anonymous Reporting Form or by contacting the group organisers directly.

20's and 30's York Photo challenge - York Social Group

Looking to make new friends? Enjoy taking photos? This event is for you! 🌆 Join us for our newest event —a fun filled afternoon where you can be creative taking photos around York City Centre!
Whether you're new to York or a local eager to expand your social circle, this event is aimed primarily at people in their 20s and 30s and offers a welcoming atmosphere to connect with like-minded individuals.

🍔 What to Expect:

We'll meet at the back of the Cross Keys Pub on Goodramgate near the Minster. Once everyone has arrived, we'll split you into teams and provide each team with a list of photo challenges to complete around York City Centre.
Your mission? Work together to visit different locations, complete creative challenges, and capture the perfect team photo! 📸
From recreating historical scenes and creating your own movie poster, to striking dramatic poses at some of York's most famous landmarks, each challenge will require teamwork, creativity and a little bit of imagination.
You'll have 90 minutes to explore York, complete as many challenges as possible, and earn points for your team. At the end of the challenge, we'll meet back together either outside in a park (if the weather is nice!) or head to Fossgate Tap for a drink or two, where we'll compare photos, share some laughs, and crown our winning team! 🏆
Any camera will do! You absolutely do not need a DSLR camera (Although if you do you can absolutely bring this along) - any camera will do including your phone camera! This is all about having fun and enjoying being out with people whilst being a little bit creative!
Coming alone? No problem! We'll split people into different teams so you'll be able to meet new people whilst engaging in some friendly competition!
To help facilitate a successful event, we do ask that you make every effort to turn up on time so we can make a prompt start - it's tough to find people once we make a start!
Please note that this event is weather dependent - if the weather forecast is horrible, we may postpone for another day!

Many of our members attend solo and are newcomers to the city or the group. Our friendly hosts will make sure you feel right at home and help you connect with others.
